Making fragrance last longer

Thoughtful habits for the way a scent wears, without a promise of extra hours.

There is no trick that makes every fragrance last all day. A fresh profile may feel different from a warmer one, and weather, skin and application all play a part. The aim is to enjoy your fragrance comfortably rather than chase a fixed number of hours.

Start with a comfortable base

Apply to clean, dry, comfortable skin. If you already use a suitable fragrance-free moisturiser, let it settle first. Do not apply perfume to broken, irritated or freshly shaved skin, and avoid fragrance if it is a known trigger for you.

Let the fragrance settle

Begin lightly and let the spray dry naturally. Notice how the opening changes before adding more. Applying a large amount does not guarantee a longer or better experience, especially in shared spaces.

Reapply thoughtfully

If you choose to refresh later, use a small amount and consider the people around you. Carry a properly closed, labelled tester if available, rather than decanting into an unlabelled container. Keep it away from heat.

Judge your own wear

Your nose can become less aware of a familiar scent. That alone does not show it has disappeared. Try a fragrance over a normal day and make notes about what you enjoy, rather than assuming it must be reapplied whenever you stop noticing it.
